Quince Jam Recipe: How to Make Quince Jam

How to Make Quince Jam

Ingredients

  • 2 kg of quince
  • 2 kg of granulated sugar
  • 1/3 teaspoon of citric acid
  • 15-20 pieces of quince seeds

Step-by-Step Instuctions for Homemade Quince Jam

1- First of all wash the quinces

2- Peel the washed quinces.

3- Then quarter and core the quinces one by one.

4- Cut the quinces into 1 cm wide pieces.

5- Transfer them in a colander.

6- Wash thoroghly until all clean.

7- Now we are ready to boil the quinces. For that transfer them in a pot.

8- Add enough water just to cover the quinces.

9-Close the lid and put on the stoveop.

10- Bring to a boil and simmer for about 30 minutes.

11- And then drain the boiled quinces.

12- Now we are ready to cook our jam. For that add 2,5 cups of quince broth, 2,5 cups of water and 2 kg of granulated sugar in a pot.

13- Add the boiled quinces and then the quince seeds.

14- Put on the stovetop and bring to a boil.

15- Boil over high heat for about 15 minutes.

16- Then bring to low heat and boil for around 2 hours over low-heat.

17- Then add 1/3 teaspoon of citric acid and mix.

18- Now we are ready to make “the scratch test”. Put one tablespoon of jam on a flat plate. Make a scratch with the end of spoon. If the scratch does not close instantly, then the quince jam is cooked and ready to serve.

19- Transfer into suitable mason jars and take away to your pantry.
