There are several ways for making healthy and very tasty hummus. It is possible to enhance the taste of hummus by adding more suitable ingredients, spices, meat and veggies. Similarly, you can even prepare different hummus recipes by applying different cooking methods, such as baking the already ready-to-eat hummus to get even more enhanced flavor. Homemade Hummus Recipe
Making a healthy and delicious hummus at home is very easy indeed. It only consists of the blending of a few ingredients in a food processor. If you already have cooked chickpeas and food processor at hand, then making hummus at home takes only five minutes. Here are the ingredients and step-by-step instructions for making an extremely delicious and healthy hummus at home…
- 400 grams of cooked chickpeas
- 2 tablespoons of tahini
- 1 lemon juice
- 3 cloves of grated garlic
- 4 – 5 springs of parsley
- 1/3 cup of olive oil
- 1 teaspoon of chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of blackpepper
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of cumin
- 1 teaspoon of red pepper powder (for topping)
- 1/3 cup of water
- 2 tablespoons of cooked chicpea pieces (for topping)
How to Make Turkish Hummus
1- As an important reminder, besides all the food ingredients, we need a food processor to blend the main ingredients while making hummus at home. We basicly make hummus by processing the all ingredients in the food processor. Then we add some water to get the desired consistency.
2- First of all transfer 400 grams of boiled chickpeas into the food processor. ( You can use canned chickpea or boil the chickpeas which are soaked the night before)
3- Secondly add approximately 2 tablespoons of tahini.
4- Then add 3 garlic cloves which are greated
5- Juice one lemon and add this 1 whole lemon juice.
6- And finally add 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of chili pepper powder, 1 teaspoon of cumin, 1/2 teaspoon of blackpepper, and 1/3 cup of olive oil.
7- Blend them all for a few minutes.
8- Check the consistency of the mixture. Usually water is added such as 1/3 cup of water will make a better consistency for homemade humus. But this is a matter of choice indeed. Some like more solid texture, while the other like softer texture.
9- After adding the water, blend the mixture in the food processor one more time to make sure the added water mixed with the hummus mixture thoroughly.
10- When the texture becomes smooth, transfer to the serving plate and flat the surface as you like.
11- You can use several toppings. We used boiled chickpea pieces, red pepper powder, chopped parsley pieces and olive oil.
